The 2019 Longmorn 21 year old will be with us shortly, and judging by the amount of enquiries we’ve had already regarding this release we are sure this is another Campbeltown malt that will not hang around on our shelves for long.
Springbank distillery is the oldest independent, family-owned distillery in Scotland. J & A Mitchell, Scotland's oldest distilling family, opened their distillery in 1828 on the site of the previous illicit distillery of Archibald Mitchell.
It is unique amongst Scotland's distilleries in that all parts of the production process, from traditional floor malting to bottling, are carried out in the one location. This is the only distillery in Scotland to produce three different single malts - Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn.
Nose - There’s a rich and meaty smoke, like beef jerky and Iberico ham followed by toffee, salted popcorn and honeydew melon.
Palate - Initially dark forest fruits and prunes, then a rich creaminess, amaretti biscuits and sweet dried coconut. This is balanced with fennel, pine needles and a delicate spiciness.
Finish - It’s a delicious smooth finish with a citrus/orange tang, concluding on a luxurious velvet note with a touch of smoke.
