The Lagavulin 1998 is a prime example of a perfect Isle of Islay whisky. It was bottled in 2014 following a long sixteen years of maturation in specially selected former Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, creating a rich, full-bodied finish. It's a robust and warming expression, packed with rich, deep, sweet and smoky flavours.
The Lagavulin distillery dates back to 1816, and had made traditional Islay malts since, using pear shaped pot stills and age-old methods. Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2014, this whisky is everything an Islay expression should be.
