Although American Bourbon Whiskey must, by law, be matured in unused, virgin oak casks, Scottish distillers have always favoured used, so-called ‘ex-bourbon’ barrels, believing that the oak in its virgin state would be too overpowering for Scotland’s more refined and complex whiskies. Well, Glen Garioch thought differently and the result was this stunning malt whisky small batch release. Glen Garioch Virgin Oak has been fully matured in Virgin American Oak casks to create a taste experience like nothing you have tried before.
Glen Garioch is situated in the small town of Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire and is the most easterly distillery in Scotland. Known to be one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland, Glen Garioch has been producing stunning Highland malts since 1797.
