Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold is only distilled from spirit made between October and March, our Scottish winter.
As the snow falls and the air is sharp with frost, the cold copper intensifies our liquid and its rich, deep character unfolds. When the winter grows colder, our liquid becomes gentler and warmer.
The Dalwhinnie distillery has been creating fine spirits since 1898, when it was founded by John Grant, George Sellar and Alexander MacKenzie. The distillery is located 1164 feet above sea level, creating true Highland single malt whiskies.
Nose: Broad, firm, smooth and clean, yet with a compelling, sweet, honeyed, dessert character. Fragrant, smooth waxiness underscores glimpses of fruit.
Palate: A balancing ripe autumn-fruit tartness. Growing spicy, with gingerbread; then denser with rich malt loaf, molasses and mint; and later soft, distant smoke.
Finish: Lingering and comforting with a pleasingly chewy conclusion. Smooth and unctuous with sweet malt, raisins and dark chocolate.
