Located in the North-east region of Morayshire, the heartland of malt whisky, Benriach displays all the traditional charm of a Speyside distillery. Built by John Duff in 1898, Benriach is one of the few distilleries with its own on-site floor maltings, and draws its water from the Burnside Springs.
Matured in traditional style American bourbon barrels. BenRiach then finish this whisky in dark rum barrels that have been sourced from Jamaica. During this second period of maturation, the whisky interacts with wood and derives a number of additional flavours and aromas specific to the Dark Rum cask.
Nose - Vanilla syrup and poached pears, dusted with sweet barley grist, combine with oak spice and candied peel.
Palate - Ripe yellow plums and nectarines infused with vanilla, ginger and tangerine peel. Wild flower honey combine with stewed barley creates an exceptionally luscious and long finish.
Finish - The rich, dark sugars and warm oak spice of the dark rum cask combine perfectly with orchard fruits and fresh barley character of the classic Benriach style.
