Glendronach Whiskies Continued

The distillery has survived changing hands on many occasions throughout its history. In 1960, the distillery was bought by William Teachers & Sons. In 1996 the distillery was mothballed only to be reopened in 2001 with Allied Distillers Ltd. In 2006, Chivas Brothers took control but soon after in 2008 The BenRiach Distillery Co. took ownership. In 2016 The Benriach Distilling Co. were sold to US distiller Brown-Forman – the producer of Jack Daniel’s, who remain the current owners.

The Glendronach is of true Highland style: a heavy and robust spirit, perfect for a long maturation period in specially selected sherry casks. Whilst the distillery is well known for its use of high quality sherry casks, it has also used ex-bourbon casks in the production of certain malts from their range.

Although the distillery and seen many different owners, the signature of its founder, James Allardice has remained a permanent and constant feature on all bottles produced by the distillery. This shows that history and tradition are of importance to this brand.
